3rd Workshop on Interaction Design in Educational Environments

SCOPE

Educational environments have been improving at the same time that new technologies have arrived to the market. Those technologies bring with them new methodologies used for a better adaptation to the new devices. With this, interaction is one of the aspects, which has been increasing more to facilitate user's labour inside of the learning process.

This workshop invites authors to submit contributions on concepts like: Distributed interaction Design Discussion, applications, techniques or environments where interaction design plays a central role by improving the learning process at all levels.

  • Authors Notification: April 17, 2014
  • Camera Ready Deadline: May 3, 2014

PAPER SUBMISSION

General

Please prepare your paper using the 2-column format, ACM Strict SIG style. In order to ensure the proper formatting of submitted papers, you must follow the instructions found in the help documents below:

Submission

The workshop invites the submission of original work through the EasyChair paper submission system (IDEE 2014 EasyChair).

Workshop Proceeding Guidelines

  • Papers should be in English.
  • Full papers should be up to 8 pages in length.
  • Short papers should be up to 4 pages in length.
  • The paper submissions should follow the ACM formatting guidelines
Authors should submit a zip file that contains:
  1. Final source files (DOC or LaTeX) of their paper (following ACM format).
  2. Final PDF files corresponding exactly to the final sources

PUBLICATIONS

All accepted submissions would be published in the ACM Digital Library, and indexed by dblp, Scopus and ScienceDirect and submitted to Thomson Reuters Conference Proceedings Citation Index-Science (ISI Web of Science).

Extensions of all accepted submissions will be published in the proceeding of the Communications in Computer and Information Science (CCIS) series with ISBN.

All accepted papers will be invited to submit an extended version for inclusion in Special Issue of an (ISI) International Journal, according to the paper topic. To be specified later.

Gerrit Van Der Veer

Gerrit C. van der Veer, PhD, started his academic career in Cognitive Psychology, moved to Cognitive Ergonomics, and into Computer Science, where he specialized in design of interactive systems. He has been teaching design courses in many countries including Belgium, Germany, Spain, Italy, Romania, China, and the Netherlands.

His research concerns user centered interaction design methods, task modeling, individual differences, mental models, cultural aspects of web use, and visualization.

He is professor in “Human, Computer and Society” at the Dutch Open University, Faculty of Computer Science (School of Computing). He holds an additional full professor post at the University of Twente (Netherlands), is since 2 years a visiting professor at the Sino European Usability Center, Dalian Maritime University, China, , and is guest professor of Design at the University of Sassari (Italia), Faculty of Architecture.

In 2012 Gerrit has been re-elected President of ACM SIGCHI, the world leading international society for human-computer interaction.
